There are 3 kind of composters, Aerobic microbes which need oxygen to thrive and live, Anaerobic microbes which do not need oxygen to survive, and the last is Red Worms to help decompose the organic waste.
To use Aerobic microbes as composter we must make sure they have enough air by aerating the compost heap. If we use Anaerobic microbes as composter we don't having to worry if enough air is available, but the smell is unpleasant. So I think use Red Worms is the best way to decompose the organic waste.
